Submission Guidelines for EVE-Mag.com
(as of September 30, 2008)
Thank you for your interest in publishing your articles on EVE-Mag.com, an independent EVE magazine! Please take your time and read the Submission Guidelines throughly. These will be the basis for the further work.
Please only submit your work if you agree to the following guidelines!
General
- Before submitting your work, please read a few current articles of our magazine or a selection of the articles posted in the archives on our website. You can see the subjects we treat and the way we treat them. Articles should be written for a broad audience of the EVE Online community.
- EVE-Mag.com accepts original submissions on the following topics:
- Articles
- Reviews
- Columns
- General EVE News
- Fan Fiction
- EVE-Mag.com does not accept:
- Simultaneous submissions, eg. to other magazines, websites, etc.
- Previously published articles, with rare exceptions subject to the following conditions:
(a) the readership of the magazine or website where the article first appeared does not overlap with ours;
(b) you are willing (if necessary) to rework the article for our purposes; and
(c) you own the full copyright to the article.
Submitting an article:
- You may send a query to the editor (smak@EVE-Mag.com) regarding an article if you are not sure that what you have in mind will work for EVE-Mag.com. Please note that a positive response to a query does not guarantee acceptance of the submitted article, which will be evaluated separately.
- Articles should be submitted by e-mail, as an attached Microsoft Word file addressed to the editor (smak@EVE-Mag.com).
- If you are starting off, articles should be accompanied a short bio introducing yourself, briefly describing your article, and containing your e-mail and website contact information. Please include a brief biographical note of 40 to 50 words that can be published with your article, specifying your profession or occupation, your latest publishments or a website, eg. a blog, you are running. Have a look at www.EVE-Mag.com/authors for examples.
- Articles should be of 500 to 1,000 words in length (character counts include spaces). Excpetions can be made on “newsflashes” and the sort.
- Articles must be sent including “tags” for better indexing for the search engines.
- Reviews must contain the following information about the item (website, application, service, book, etc.) under review:
- Title of item you are reviewing
- Author or editor of the item you are reviewing
- Publisher, including website and/or e-mail address
- Your personal rating from 0 to 10 (ten is best), and why you rated, like you did.
The articles in EVE-Mag.com are closely edited. Submitting an article indicates agreement to work with the editor in creating an article in our style and to our standards.
Submissions are evaluated by our team, a process that may take up to two days before the article is published. If you do not hear from us within that time, which is rather the exception, please write to the editor (smak@EVE-Mag.com) to inquire about the status of your article.
